Welcome Vayk Winery
In Vayots Dzor’s serene Arpa Valley, our estate brings Armenian winemaking to life. Anchored in tradition yet forward in vision, we cultivate Areni Noir and Voskehat in soils enriched by ancient volcanic origins. Sun-drenched slopes, crisp alpine air, and over 300 days of light shape grapes of remarkable character.
Every detail matters—precision drip irrigation, hand harvests at dawn, and human-led berry sorting—all to craft wines that speak of this land. Whether you are discovering our terroir for the first time or returning to its familiar charm, we invite you to savor Vayk’s elegant expressions of Armenian craft.
Our Roots and Vision
In the mid-1990s, founder Ashot Zakaryan looked beyond the challenges of Vayots Dzor’s steep, arid slopes to see its potential. A mechanical engineer with a passion for the land, he transformed neglected hillsides through innovative irrigation, reviving soils once thought barren.
Apricot orchards came first, followed by Areni Noir—an ancient grape rooted in the region’s history. From these first plantings grew Vayk Winery, joined by orchards of plums, apples, and walnuts, and a dedication to natural, sun-dried fruits that enrich both table and terrain.
By 2000, a small winery was built, and with a blend of tradition and modern technique, the first estate wines were bottled. Today, under the leadership of Ashot’s son, David, we remain committed to crafting wines that honor the land, employ local talent, and sustain the community—a living testament to resilience, heritage, and Armenian craftsmanship.
